What I Wish I knew Before Starting A Business

Hi, I’m disillusioned. I’m just going to be really up front and say that I don’t know why anyone willing starts a business. The process of getting a new company off of the ground is trash. You have to be out of your mind.

It’s been 8 months since I left my job to run my creative studio, Pretty Thing, full-time. The experience has been sobering. It has been humbling. But, also, it’s been incredibly surreal and awesome.

I’ve never had a baby but I can only imagine that starting a business is like giving birth. Although there’s no way to fully prepare yourself for the trauma, the more you know ahead of time, the better off you’ll be.

Here are a few things I wish I’d known before becoming a entrepreneur.

  1. So awesome that you have enough confidence to talk about this reality! You really did a great job of illustrating the sacrifice and patience necessary in starting a company. It’s pretty apparent from this video that you have what it takes to make Pretty Things succeed! So stoked for you!
